Mobility is a fundamental attribute of (so-called) contemporary space. And there is no space as mobile as the office space. Also an expression of a society and work structure that is now universally widespread, the mobility of the office radiates and penetrates objects and elements of architecture, modifies the qualities of materials, is declined in thousands of product typers, versions and conceptual and applicative interpretations. Aso we have a chair that is mobile in the way it supports the dynamics of the body like an eco-skeleton for added comfort, a system of furniture is mobile in that it enables one to work anywhere, sitting down or standing up, ato home or in the office (assuming that there is a distinction between one and the other). Over time, amid forms and materials, mobile is also and especially the key characteristic of every design that is open to new, multiple and surprising interpretations of use, or acts as the bearer of technological solutions that truly set it apart from the ordinary. One could say that all thing are mobile, in the end they are, but each in its own way.

That’s why Michele Franzina is so interested in mobility and movability. Movability is a concept.

Movability: able to be moved, to be light and dynamic, open to immediate placement and unexpected use. An increasing amount of furniture and fittings possesses this characteristic, especially in the office. Architect and designer Michele Franzina pushes it further and has come up with an object that also moves amid its own forms, incorporating more functions (chair or table) and above all inviting movement in order to be newly interpreted.

Sissi is a chair with a strongly sculptural presence. Sissi resolves a number of different functions in a single form. In one move, the upper support becomes either the back, arm or worktop, depending on the position of the user.

A flexible design

Really editable design! (And you can edit too!)

Choosing design objects and furniture online, without knowing what will fit in our home and in the environment that we had designed for them, is always quite risky. What if they are not suitable? And if you are not comfortable with that?

Design You Edit gives you an innovative solution. Design You Edit is a project launched last January at the Imm Cologne. It offers really editable design products, products that you can modify and customize at will, both in their shape and function.

With simple steps and a touch of creativity, a chair becomes a table, a pouf is transformed into a couch and a metal panel allows you to attach and detach the shelves to create a bookcase or a rack perfectly integrated to the surrounding space.

Surely our product that had the greatest success during and after Imm cologne has been Aleaf. It is an armchair, a chaise longue, an object with a sinuous and unique shape designed by Michele Franzina and produced by Venezia Homedesign. Among other things, it is also very comfortable: try it out!
After #imm13 many websites and blogs have reported Aleaf as one of the furniture trends of the moment. We can just link and repeat the various articles, but we do not hide that we are really pleased!

Design You Edit after imm13

Thank YOU!

Thanks to all the people we met a few days ago, we had a wonderful week in Cologne.

#imm13 was the first occasion on which Design You Edit project was presented to the public. This was our first step and we hope that, thanks to your support and your appreciation, it will be only the first of many other steps.

Design You Edit and its products have received attention, praise and applause for all the seven days of the exhibition, and a lot of people joined us to edit their own design.

Cubel has surprised everyone, turning continuously into chairs, stools, sofas, chaise lounges, tables and many other shapes. Nobody believed that a single object could be transformed in so many pieces of furniture.

The clean and simple look of Magnete‘s shapes, along with the endless possibilities of combination of the objects composing this multipurpose shelves system, has inspired visitors to create strange, unique and really personal wall units.

The comfortable beauty of Aleaf won over adults and kids.

Sissi and Hully chairs helped us to get some relaxation and allowed us to find the privacy needed to write important work email while the stand was flooded with visitors.

All products have been touched, moved, used and of course edited for the entire week, and they gave answers to all your questions and curiosity: so do not stop now!

First considerations on imm13

After three days in Cologne for #imm13 it feels as if we had woken up from a dream. A nice dream.

This is the first time that Design You Edit project was shown to the public, and at the beginning of the fourth day at Imm Cologne we have to say to be happy for the interest shown by many visitors, the vast majority are from northern Europe. Products that have aroused more curiosity are: Cubel, Aleaf, Sissi and the multi-purpose system Magnete.

We received several compliments from reporters of design magazines in particular by Domus and Ddn, the appreciation of some bloggers and there are already some articles published on the web (Archiproducts and Chictip).

And there’s more! Design You Edit will be at Imm Cologne until January 20… Join us!
